Super Stock Figure 8! Off to a great start. One car spun out on the throttle on the opening straight, and another couple of cars made contact heading into turn 3.
Winged Sprint cars are small, fast, and purpose-built for ovals. Their top wings are asymmetrical and their chassis are off-center to facilitate faster left turns.
This race had the most exciting ending I’ve ever seen live! The second place car burnt out their tires on the exit of the final turn and managed to sneak past the leading driver to take the win.
WMRAs are Winged Sprint cars without the wings! These cars are basically fast, enclosed karts.
Super Stock Figure 8 intersection action. Not as busy as previous figure 8 races!

I got closer to the track for a quick bit to catch the last Winged Sprint heat race. I didn’t have my earplugs in yet and realized how loud these machines are!Fun fact! WMRAs (pictured here) and other categories don’t have batteries or starters on-board. That means that each vehicle must be push-started to fire the engine. Here, you can see the “push trucks” (pickup trucks with a metal plate on the front bumper) getting all of the WMRAs going.
Missing from my videos and pictures: Mini Stocks category.
The Evergreen State Fair was happening this Labor Day weekend.
My route to the racetrack was about 50% people and 50% horses. There must have been some horse show happening nearby at the state fair.
